After the Battle of Cambrai, Germany realized how superior the British "Rhomboid" tanks were off-road to their A7V. The result was the A7V/U It was similer in shape to the British tanks, and housed

two 5.7cm cannons in side sponsons. It was based on A7V chassis No.524, and had a "tower" on top for a machine gunner. The project was abandoned on September 12, 1918 and the vehicle was scrapped.
